About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join our team based in Dublin or Cork. The successful candidate will join our Wastewater team, which is rapidly expanding to meet the challenges associated with multiple interesting and high-profile projects. The role will involve planning, programming, coordinating, and leading the hydraulic modelling and network analysis function on specific projects, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of modelling outputs.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the provision of specialist hydraulic modelling inputs on our projects, which include Drainage Area Plans and SWO compliance projects for Uisce Eireann as well as integrated 1D/2D catchment modelling for the likes of Dublin Airport. The role includes providing technical expertise to support project engineers undertaking model build and verification and network design works necessary to support infrastructure development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, programme, co-ordinate, and lead the hydraulic modelling and network analysis function for specific projects.
  • Provision of specialist hydraulic modelling inputs into projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Coordinate and deliver the model build, calibration and verification of hydraulic models using the latest InfoWorks ICM software and in accordance with Client Standards (Uisce Éireann DAP standards in particular).
  • Coordinate and deliver model assessments and support other in optioneering of optimal solutions required to address SWO and flooding non-compliance and in accordance with Client Standards (Uisce Éireann DAP standards in particular).
  • Coordinate and deliver the scoping, procurement, and delivery of surveys necessary to inform model development.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation.
  • Support the technical development of others in the team.
  • Undertake client liaison.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in hydraulic modelling technology and best practices.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required, in line with the evolving needs of the role and the business.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field;
  • At least 8 years of experience in hydraulic modelling for wastewater and surface water systems;
  • Strong technical skills in hydraulic modelling software ideally using InfoWorks ICM with experience with MicroDrainage and Bentley software;
  • Experienced in the use of InfoAsset;
  • Strong Geographic Information Systems (GIS) knowledge with experience in QGIS, MapInfo and ArcGIS;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues;
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies;
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamic, Water-hammer modelling, EPANET and Synergi would be beneficial.
